Verification notes: New listing, added this pass. Announced April 14, 2026 via American Express's own newsroom, naming Stripe, OpenAI, EMVCo, and the FIDO Alliance as interoperability partners. American Express's current company page (checked directly, not just the launch press release) describes the ACE Developer Kit's Account Enablement, Intent Intelligence, and Payment Credentials components as live capabilities using OAuth and mutual TLS for identity, but explicitly states the separate Agent Registration specification — the piece that would let a merchant verify an agent's identity the way Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol does at checkout — is “still under development,” and describes the associated purchase-protection guarantee for agent-initiated charges as “coming soon” rather than currently operative. An earlier draft of this listing described a working three-part verification and protection program in the present tense; that overstated where the rollout actually stands as of this review and was corrected before publish. paymentEnabled stays true because payment-credential provisioning for agents is confirmed live today, even though the identity-verification and protection layers around it are not yet complete. First major card network beyond Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol and Mastercard's Agent Pay for Machines to publish a named, distinct program in this space; see also Stripe's Agent Toolkit, one of ACE's named partners.
